People-focused Project Management
Project and Programme Management is at the heart of everything we do here at Clarity Business Services – and ultimately, people are the heart of every project and programme. Too often, consultants apply a formulaic methodology or “by the books” approach to managing complex projects. The project management conversation too often becomes esoteric, overly technical, or too heavily focused on systems and processes rather than people and persuasion.
People are not widgets. People cannot be easily programmed and controlled and moulded to fit the grand scheme. If you want a successful project, if you want to achieve a successful change management programme, you need to make sure that your organisation’s most complex and valuable assets – your people – are on board with the change and ready to help implement it.
At Clarity, we recognise that projects are ultimately a people-based endeavour and that organising and motivating people and teams to perform and deliver is critical to ensure success. Instead of getting bogged down in the process details and technical aspects, we devote significant time and effort to collaborating with the people, teams, and stakeholders involved with the project. We believe in leading from the front lines and maintaining open channels of communication. If there is a problem or something isn’t clear then it needs to be talked through and fixed there and then, as time is money and a lack of open and effective communication can and often does prolong delivery.
Most people are not necessarily resistant to change; they’re resistant to change that seems arbitrary or that is being imposed upon them from on high without sufficient input and consideration. Clarity consultants strive to make every project and programme implementation as smooth and painless as possible. Rather than “top down” decrees and technocratic jargon, we favour a “bottom up” approach to building understanding, support and enthusiasm among the people who will be doing the work and living with the results.

What is Project and Programme Management?
At Clarity, we believe that Project and Programme Management (PPM) is both an art and a science. This type of work involves initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and control of all aspects of a project (or group of projects) to achieve the objectives on time, within the specified cost, whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality. Clarity consultants pride themselves on the proactive management of the scope, processes, technology and most importantly, the people involved in ensuring the successful delivery
of every project.
Mitigating Risk – and Capitalising on Opportunities
Every PPM engagement is also an exercise in risk management. With every new project or programme to be implemented, we perform a thorough risk assessment to understand the root cause and potential impact of the key risks. What might go wrong? What will the impact be to the rest of the organisation? What are the potential downsides as well as upsides of any given project or programme? As projects and programmes increase in complexity, the accompanying risk increases as well. Every complex IT project or IT-enabled change programme impacts many aspects of an organisation, and the possible “side effects” of any change need to be taken into account. Clarity consultants can help your organisation make a clear-headed assessment of the risks of each project and programme – and help you capitalise on the opportunities that made you want to pursue the new project in the first place.
The “Fire Brigade” of IT Consulting
Just as firefighters run into a burning building whilst everyone else is running out of it, Clarity consultants eagerly embrace the toughest consulting engagements under the most demanding conditions. We thrive under pressure and we are driven to deliver the seemingly impossible. All Clarity PPM consultants possess in-depth knowledge and experience gained with a wide array of suppliers and industry-recognised PPM methodologies, and will adopt an agile and collaborative approach to suit the needs of each specific project.
